We have had two times where we have seen snakes with bright blue eyes. Is this a rare snake or just a flaw. We live on a Lake in Southern Illinois ?

"Blue" eyes are typically an indicator that the snake is beginning to shed its skin. Snakes have a specially adapted scale which covers the eye, and this skin is shed along with the rest of the skin. Once the shedding is complete, the eyes will return to their normal color.
