Trying to save a Nesting Duck

I have had a duck decide to make a nest in my front walkway. She has now laid many eggs and has begun to sit for long periods of time. I know they are protected, but my complex is wanting to do some roofing this week which would allow shingles to drop on her and her nest. I need to know how to,legally, delay this until her babies hatch. Can you offer any suggestions?

The duck, her nest and eggs are all protected by the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act as well as the Illinois Wildlife Code. It is illegal to destroy the nest or eggs. If possible, share this information with the site manager. An Illinois Department of Natural Resources conservation police officer can explain what the penalties would be if the nest was destroyed.
