We have a nesting Mother in our yard we also have a very curious small dog Can you suggest a method to protect the rabits?

The easiest and least expensive way is to keep the dog on a leash when you are in that part of the yard. The other option would be fencing that part of the yard off, but you'll need wire large enough for the female to get through and tall enough that the dog can't jump over it.
