Smooth soft shelled turtle

I have recently had a woman come to my job (a pet store) with an adult smooth soft shelled turtle she found in her backyard. It appears to be injured and was most likely released after being someone's "pet", as it was found very far from any water source and in the city. I am aware they are an endangered species in Illinois and want her released back into wildlife (after some needed medical attention - mouth appears to have slight infection, eyelids are red/scratched, some other scrapes/cuts and underneath of shell is red/irritated). I have been desperately trying to find a reptile rehabilitator in the area, but no one has been qualified to help her. Please contact me as soon as possible! Thank you!

Carrie, Sorry for the delayed response. Do you still have the turtle?
