Garter snakes lie in space between old stoop slab & foundation. 1 or 2 at a time, 12"/18". Observe their travel around house at foundation sliding under lowest clapboard near slab. Is nest likely at that location? Going to remove slab in fall, how to deal with possible nest then?

It is possible that a female garter snake would give birth to her young there. (They do not lay eggs in a "nest" as many other species of snakes do). The young are born anytime between July and October (depending on when mating took place). So if you remove the slab, the young snakes should be able to leave on their own.
