Raccoon?? Animal ID

While driving home tonight in Grafton, IL on the bluff tops, an animal ran across the road in front of me. It was the size of a raccoon, but it was solid brown with a tan face. Looked like a bear cub with a long tail. Was this some version of a raccoon or a different animal all together? Thank you for your help.

Raccoons always have the ringed tail and dark eye mask. Other possibilities might be woodchuck, otter, muskrat or beaver, but the timing and location make those much less likely.
