I have one more for you. In the link below is a picture of a bird I saw near my house in the city late last spring. No one has been able to identify it. It was slightly larger and fatter than a sparrow. The link is not a picture of the bird I actually saw but looks just like it. The color is what was so striking. Many people thought it was a finch but again it was larger and fatter than a sparrow.

You've stumped me. : ) I've asked Dr. Mike Ward of the INHS to help with the ID. He agreed that it is an odd bird. He asked a couple people and apparently there have been reports of odd colored house sparrows. For now, our guess it that the bird is simply an odd colored female house sparrow. Dr. Ward is asking a couple more people.
