You asked a short question, but I'm going to give you a long answer. : ) As long as there are no city ordinances and as long as you are not feeding deer, then yes, you can legally feed raccoons in Illinois. But it isn't a good idea. And here's why: 1. It increases the number of raccoons an area can naturally support. This brings them into closer contact with one another, which can spread disease. That's not good for the raccoons. 2. Raccoons can be carriers of disease that are transmittable to people. That's not good for you or your family. 3. Raccoons don't stay in one place. Which means they are going to wander over to your neighbors' properties. And raccoons may decide to use their property as a latrine, or get into their trash, or decide to have a den in their attic. That's not good for your neighbors. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
