You do not need a permit to trap moles in Illinois, but if you are going to charge people for trapping wildlife you do need a nuisance wildlife control operator permit. Are moles the only animals you will be trapping?

Voles and moles are not protected by the Illinois Wildlife Code. So as long as those are the only species you will be trapping, you will not need the NWCO permit.
