Bat in my backyard

For the last 2 evenings we have had a small bat purched on the side of a tree in my backyard. It is about 3 feet off the ground, low enough that my children are VERY interested in him. He has moved, he was gone this morning and back this evening. He has also crawled from one spot to another on the tree. I have several pictures of him if that would help identify him. Should anything be done? I am concerned that no matter how much I tell the kids to leave him alone, their curiosity will win. They are 7, 4 & 3.

Darryl Coates, IDNR wildlife biologist, told me he'd already talked to about the bat. But for others reading this post, if you run into a similar situation, you can call Darryl at (217)-784-4730.
