In Rockton Illinois, there has been a canadian goose on Race St, all summer who cannot fly . It drags it's wing by its side. I have call Who Haven and Winnebago county shelter to get help for it. it is still there and it looks lijke the rest of the maybe have left for the winter. Hoo Haven says they will take it if I bring it in. I do not know how to catch a large goose and am 79 years old. I have tried all summer to get help and Winnebago county doesn't help either. Do you know of someone in the are that knows how to capture this goose and take him out to Hoo Haven?

Ella, Thank you for being so diligent in trying to get help for the goose. It's sad to see ones with injuries. With a wing that has been broken all summer, it would be hard to repair. Which likely means that even if the goose were taken to the wildlife rehab center, they may not be able to fix it. Which means euthanasia or a life of captivity. The goose doesn't have great odds of making it through the winter, but there is a chance. It has survived all summer. And if it does make it through the winter, it will be there when its family comes back next spring.
