Coyotes

I am concerned about Coyotes attacking our 12 year old Miniature Daschund (16lbs). We have a 4 foot high chain link fence around the whole yard and inside of that a 10x10 dog pen made out of stronger wire then chain link and it is 6 feet high. I have a roof kit that is tarp with a metal frame, but I have not installed it yet. We have never seen a coyote near our yard, but we can here them howling at night so they are close. We have a dog door in the wall that goes out to the dog pen so she can go out during the day. At night I'm not worried because it is well lit with a flood light and we watch her. But should we be worried about her during the day? thank you.

If you haven't seen the coyotes during the day, it shouldn't be a problem. But they can easily jump a four foot fence. So if you are going to let her out for extended periods during the day unsupervised, it wouldn't hurt to make sure she is in the dog pen. Adding the tarp would provide protection from the sun/rain as well as help deter a coyote.
