I am trying to identify a rodent that my cat brought home as a gift. It was considerably larger than a mouse and much smaller than a rat. It was brown and had a furry tail. It's tail is also much shorter than I have ever seen on a mouse or rat. To me, it resembled a Degu or a large Gerbil with a shortened tail. I have never seen anything like it around here, and I am just wondering if you know what it could be?
