Hi, In Illinois, I know that grey wolves, pumas, black bears, elk etc, since these organisms ae reappering in Illinois, would Illinois one day reintroduce theses extirpated wildlife back in Illinois? Also since the deer population and coyote population is increasing, the wolves, bears and pumas can control the population of deer and coyotes and can decrease the number of illness in the wildlife and Illinois has had no real apex preadators in over two centuries.

There are no plans to reintroduce wolves, cougars, or black bears into Illinois. But individuals of these species have made their way into IL in the past few years, and it is expected that more will do so in the future. It remains to be seen if they will be able to establish viable breeding populations given the limited amount of habitat available in IL.
