Mouse? Shrew? Vole?

Last week, with the frigid temps, we had two uninvited guests. They were tiny, almost black, and pretty uniform in color. Our pest guy said there is no evidence of mice anywhere else. These two came in through the floor lock for the sliding glass door. I saw them go in and out through that hole. They went in and out of the "no see" trap and ate all of the PB without triggering the trap. We resorted to glue traps. I do have a picture if that helps. But they are pretty glued down.

I'm scared of hantavirus, although these were definitely not deer mice. Is it possible that they were shrews ? Shrew or mouse- after four days (I won't let my family in that room) would any bacteria or virus they could carry be dead? They went behind the Christmas tree at one point and I'm so worried that they either climbed it, pooped in it, or pooped on the handmade tree skirt. Are there any risks to cleaning up after them?
