River otter?

Twice now I have seen a black very long animal sliding across the snow at night, then it disappears. We live on a creek going into Lake Michigan in IL . The creek is completely frozen, but in the summer one time I saw it in the creek then go up stream, could this be a river otter?

Other possibilities would be mink or weasel, depending on how long it was.
