I have battled sparrows for a few years. (bird houses) This year, I have noticed there are very few sparrows. I've also been feeding birds for the past 15 years. I have a friend who mentioned this to me also. She also said her brother noticed this too. Very few sparrows all winter and hardly any right now. Any ideas? Thanks you, Laurie (never thought I'd worry about the lack of sparrows. Haha)

Populations will normally fluctuate over time. Hard winters, lack of food, loss of habitat, or disease can all temporarily knock down the numbers. A season or two of lower numbers isn't of much concern, but when we see trends of several consecutive years with low numbers, that is cause for concern.
