How do I switch my lawn to a natural prairie?...if that is correct for northern IL.

John, Do you live in town? Or do you have some property that could be managed as prairie? Prairie plants are fabulous, and the birds, bees, butterflies, and other insects go crazy over them, but their height and maintenance requirements means they aren't a good fit everywhere.

I'd recommend that you contact the Master Naturalist coordinator in your area.
