I also am experiencing deaths of these birds in my area. No sign physically of trauma or disease. However, they "look" sick hanging around the back deck with fluffed up feathers and "squinty" eyes. I find it odd that they are eating the grape jelly out for the orioles.

Could be conjunctivitis. Towards the end, they can't really see and have a very hard time finding food. Which is why they stay close to the bird feeders.
