Found this big painted turtle in back yard. There is a hole where we found it and looks as if it come up out of ground or maybe a female getting ready to or lay eggs. But I have no idea what sex it is. The shell is 10 inches long and about 7 1/2 inches wide to give idea how large it is. The hole it was at was wet. So trying to figure out if it should stay or take it to canal at end of my street

You can leave the turtle where it is. It will find its way back to water when it is ready.

Yep I figured she may have or been laying eggs, set her back where she was and a few minutes she was off on a stroll. There is a school yard , football field by my house and then the canal is just beyond that. Not unless she plans on visiting carnival along canal ..lol but she is out n about on her own
