I live outside of Atwater, Il with timber around 3/4 of our home. I was sitting on my deck this morning and looked down and on the sidewalk was a long dark gray animal that had a face of a ferrite or a mongoose. Bushy tail. What is it?

If it was small you likely saw a weasel. If it was larger, it may have been a mink.
