Hairless coyote

In the field by my house, adjacent to a park district property, I've seen 2 coyotes there in the afternoon for the past couple of days. One seems to be completely hairless.

I know that coyotes are common in this area, but I've been seeing more of them on a regular basis over the past couple of years, even getting within 10 feet of one a few months ago (not intended of course).

I'm just wondering if this hairless one is something to be concerned about.

It probably has mange. Did its skin look crusty and sort of wrinkled? They don't typically survive if they get mange. As long as you and any pets keep your distance, you don't need to be concerned about your own health. As far as the coyote is concerned, there isn't much you can do for it.

Ok, I do have a picture of it if you're interested. To me it looked healthy and well feed, minus the hair of course.
