filling chipmunk holes

We have had chipmunks digging a home just in front of the house. It seems that we have solved the problem. Now I would like to fill the main "home" hole as completely as possible to reduce the likelihood of new critters moving in and to make sure out new sidewalk and our foundation don't suffer. I am certain that this hole is fairly extensive. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Filling in the entrance with soil should do the trick. If the soil above the burrow settles you could add a top dressing of soil.

Just checking to see if you found a good solution. I appear to have the same issue but have not seemed to have found any good resolutions to fill in the extensive tunnell that has been built.

Rolling the tunneled area and then adding soil as necessary to bring depressions level with the rest of the yard. If there are chipmunks still in the area, new tunnels will likely be built. With chipmunks or moles, unless an active (and often sustained) trapping program is in place, the area will likely continue to have damage.

Laura, Your whole two-part answer seems to be a copy/paste from ehow.com (http://www.ehow.com/how_8521566_fill-chipmunk-holes.html). If so, shame on you! You should have provided attribution. This sort of thing is called plagiarism.

I wrote that answer back in May 2013. And I can assure you, it was my own answer. The article you reference is from July 2014. So I think you may have the wrong end of the stick on this one.

Pour dry all purpose sand into chipmunk holes to evict or otherwise eliminate their presence in a yard — is 100% effective for me.
