Fried squirrel

On Saturday a squirrel got on my electrical transformer, shorted it out and was electrocuted. Do you know if there is some way to protect squirrels from power lines and vice versa? The lineman was like, "Too bad, so sad," but I was thinking that there may be some orphans in the woods now which may not survive. . .

Hi Ruth, There are devices that can be installed by the utility company on poles and lines to keep animals off. This is a solution that would need to be implemented by the utility.

No one except the utility company should ever go near utility equipment. And no one other than a trained lineman who works for the utility company should attempt to install animal guards on utility equipment.

You can see what they look like here:

Let me know if you have more questions, Laura
