My daughter, son and I were on a walk through a neighborhood when we spotted a fawn eating weeds out of someone's front yard. I realize that we should not have approached the deer, but when we walked up to it when passing it just stood there. So we fed it a branch with leaves on it. The deer's nose actually touched my sons hand-we washed our hands as soon as we got home....Anyway, my daughter now is convinced we are going to die of some disease! Can I assure her that we did not contact anything by feeding it a leaf? Thanks so much for your help!

Wildlife can carry diseases, which is one reason why we encourage people not to feed or handle wildlife. But as long as you thoroughly washed your hands with hot, soapy water, it is extremely unlikely that you would catch anything from the fawn. Please tell your daughter not to worry.
