there is a pack of Coyotes living in a culvert nearby. I have a couple of dogs both are larger than a ST. Bernard and play outside regularly one evening. Recently a pack of 12 Coyotes jumped the female they were clearly trying to take her. she was spinning around because they were biting at her legs. Several other people have had problem in this community with losing their pets. if they are willing to try to take a dog this size than they must be desperate. Naturally i worry about the safety of my grandchildren playing in the area.

It is unusual for coyotes to go after a dog as big as yours, and particularly unusual to have so many coyotes attack together. Often we see cases of one or two coyotes acting aggressively when there is a den nearby. I'd suggest contacting the local IDNR district wildlife biologist and/or a nuisance wildlife control operator to discuss possibly trapping the animals. I'll e-mail you the biologist's contact info.
