Do cougars attack medium sized dogs?

A cougar could attack medium-size dogs, but there have been very few cougars in Illinois. Is this a question of general concern, or do you have dogs that have been injured? The bite wounds and severity of injuries can often help determine what sort of animal caused the attack.
